Sweet Liberty found on 20th Street received the Best New American Cocktail Bar award from the Spirited Awards. These awards have been running for ten years and are awarded by Taste of the Cocktail which has assembled a team of more than 100 judges to determine the best bars and bartenders around the country.
John Lermayer is the man behind Sweet Liberty and coincidentally he was also named among the American Bartender of the Year group of finalists. Lermayer has stated that he wants his customers to feel at home in the bar.
Sweet Liberty features a number of curiously named cocktails like the She Said Yes, the Velvet Sideswipe, and The Beast of Bourbon among many others. The bar also sells food.
